U.S. spokesmen argue that theirresponse has been appropriate and timely with contributions to Mozambique of over $32million and additional contributions to the region of over $40 million. The U.S.government has responded to eight flood disasters thus far in FY2000 in addition to thecurrent flooding in southern Africa.
