Particularly contentious in both bilateral traderelations and in World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute settlement has been the EUsban on meat produced using growth-promoting hormones. EU policy on bio-engineeredproducts has also been a contentious issue although no formal disputes have been raisedin the WTO. Developments in regulation and labeling of bio-engineered products couldpotentially affect future U.S.-EU agricultural trade.
