The act expires at the end of FY2006. Congress could let the programexpire, extend the authorization or make it permanent, or modify it in various ways.Possible issues for modifying the program include the amount of (basis for)compensation, the source of funds, the authorized and required uses of the payments, theinteraction with other compensation programs (including Payments in Lieu of TaxesPILT), and the duration of any changes.
