It providesdescriptions of and funding information for some of the major preservation programs,including the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF), the Advisory Council on HistoricPreservation, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the National Register forHistoric Places. Some Members of Congress have given historic preservation programsclose scrutiny and have recommended that historic preservation activities be supportedincreasingly by the private sector. The FY2004 Interior and Related AgenciesAppropriations Act, P.L. 108-108 provided $73.58 million for the HPF. The FY2005Administrations budget request was $77.53 million, an estimated $3.95 million increasefrom the FY2004 appropriation.
