The three titles of the Credit Union Regulatory ImprovementsAct (CURIA) would provide regulatory changes requested by credit union industryadvocates. These changes would provide supervisory flexibility to the National CreditUnion Administration (NCUA), the federal regulator for the credit union industry,enhance the ability of credit unions to provide loans to their members, and ease creditunion regulatory burdens. For the past several years, credit union representatives haveasked Congress to increase their ability to serve their members by addressing thegrowing costs of regulatory compliance and by providing additional flexibility throughregulatory reform measures.
