If the Judiciary Committee schedules a vote on a nominee,it usually will vote on a motion to report the nomination favorably. However, thecommittee could also vote on a motion to report without recommendation, to reportunfavorably, or to table the nomination. If the committee votes to report whetherfavorably, without recommendation, or unfavorably the nomination moves to the fullSenate, which, if it takes final action on the nomination, votes on whether to confirm ordisapprove.Between 1939 and 2007, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted other thanfavorably on 18 district or circuit court judicial nominations.
