Although additional aid is described in terms of assuaging Israels ongoing security concerns vis-vis Iran, it also may be part of a larger effort to reduce reported tensions between U.S. and Israeli leaders (see CRS Report R44245, Israel: Background and U.S. Relations In Brief).
