2、ryThe Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles (PNGV) was a cooperativeresearch program between the federal government and the “big three” Americanautomakers, Ford, DaimlerChrysler, and General Motors. It was financed by privatecontributions and the re-channeling of research funds for ongoing fe
3、deral programs.Partners agreed to share research responsibilities and achievements. The goals of theprogram were to improve domestic manufacturing capabilities and to develop prototypesof a mid-sized family car with three times the fuel economy of a comparable 1994model.
