Workers obtain insurance protection by working for a sufficient number of years in jobs covered by Social Security. The programs SSDI componen
3、t provides benefits to nonelderly insured workers who experience severe, work-limiting disabilities and to their eligible spouses and children. As with Old-Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI)Social Securitys retirement and survivors componentbenefits are based on a workers past earnings in covered em

Eligibility Requirements To qualify for SSDI, workers must (1) be below Social Securitys full retirement age (FRA), (2) be insured in the event of disability, and (3) meet the statutory definition of disability.
